Chaypee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chaypee is the Wampanoag name for a hummock in the Slocum River estuary, Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The name means "Land of the two hills". 3 other hummocks are nearby; Pesket, Pashhok, and Campeetset. Chaypee Hill Farm, a former dairy, sits atop the hummock.
Many a U.N. Ambassador with his family, as well as other dignitaries, were entertained on the farm during the mid-20th Century. It is rumored that several oaks on the hummock were planted by then Harvard College student Isoroku Yamamoto, who later commanded the Japanese floatilla that attacked Pearl Harbor.
The Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies is next door.
