Chase Frank is a musician and songwriter who grew up in Long Beach, CA. Early musical training included cello, piano and guitar. As an adult she has played in Long Beach experimental rock groups (for which she was the main writer) Quiver, The Potatoe Eaters & Quiverfish (which had several rotating members from 1996-2001).
In 2002 she reluctantly renounced the band format and went 'solo'. Her first release "Bee of My Mind" (http:myspace.com/chasefrank) was released on boutique-label Poverty Level Records. It was an 8-song LP made with fellow students while earning a degree in audio engineering (LBCC). The album was textural and haunting record. Guest performers included David Lizarde (violin), Robby Delosier (Contra Bass) and Rob Freeman (drums, later in Quiverfish with Chase Frank).
Her next release, "Winter is My Summer" was released February 2006. Recorded and mixed by Robbie Reverberation the album was born out of loop sampling experiments and two years of regular touring. The 13 songs guitar-driven release was referred to as minimalist and often compared to the gaunt sounds of Sonic Youth, Porthishead and early PJ Harvey. Additionally, several "Winter Is My Summer" songs were re-mixed (myspace.com/chaseremixed) by friends and fellow LA musicians.
In 2008 she self-released an 8 song EP entitled Midnight Manor (myspace.com/chasefrank) which includes drummer La Dawn Best (her first drummer, 1998). She is currently touring as a duo with drummer Ahmad-Jamal in the U.S. and abroad.
Other accomplishments include several music series' and spoken word events including: "An evening with Allen Ginsberg" and "Songwriters Supper Club" (2002-2006 weekly concert) where she aimed at cross-polinating local artists with national touring acts.
As an events producer she created and produced a nationally recognized festival, "When Words Collide" in Long Beach to critical acclaim nation-wide. The festival featured writer/cross-over artists such as Poet/Songwriter Patti Smith, Performance Artist Laurie Anderson, Jim Caroll, John Trudel and more (2 festivals, 1995 & 1997). The event was month-long and mutli-venued and highly attended. In collaboration with local art organizations & the board of directors, The festival also included many local writers.
