Charley and Mimmo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charley and Mimmo is a Canadian animated Children's Series from Quebec that currently airs on YTV.
[edit] Plot
Charley and Mimmo (pronounced Mee-moe) consists of a typical family (father, mother, son, baby sister) in a suburban town. The son, Charley (and his subanthromorphic Teddy Bear Mimmo), are the main characters. Charley and his family and friends appear to be some kind of plush dolls that are either completely brown, black, or dark gray with the exception of a white face and round orange nose. The "people" in the show are the only characters that talk; Mimmo can walk on two legs, sit, show expression etc, except for the fact that he cannot talk. Instead, Mimmo communicates through squeaking and squealing like a squeaker toy.
As for Charley, he is the average child and the show's star. His voice and appearance suggest that he is somewhere in the age range of 4—7 years old. Charley is occasionally bossy and easily starts arguments among his friends. He can also easily get upset, angry and jealous then regrets it later. Sometimes Charlie lies and has a slightly disapproving character.
There was a 2004 movie entitled "T'choupi" to be released by Gebeka Films, but only in France and South Korea, the plot is about Charley and his friends who flock together to find out who has stolen all the toys, "T'choupi" is Charley's name in French, "Doudou" is Mimmo's name in French, too.
[edit] Series
Charley and Mimmo airs in 10-15 minute segments on YTV. It is still syndicated, but its production seems to have ceased. The show seems somewhat related to the Quebec children's production Caillou, as it has a similar plot (but with longer stories and live puppet segments).
The original music score for the series is the work of composer Peter Measroch.
