Charles of Sezze

Charles of Sezze (1616 - 1670), born Giovanni Carlo Marchioni, was a brother of the Franciscan order.

He lived the life of a lay brother of the order, never requesting or receiving ordination to the priesthood. He died in Rome, in 1670.

He was recognized as living a life of outstanding holiness as a lay brother, and was ultimately canonized by the Roman Catholic Church in 1959. His feast day is January 7.
