Charles River School was founded by parents on the banks of the Charles River in Needham, Massachusetts in 1911. They sought to establish a school that would offer a strong academic program, instill a love of learning, provide leadership in educational innovation, advance moral learning, and ensure parents' active involvement in the education of their children. In 1917, the school moved to Dover, Massachusetts. Today the school serves children from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Eight and is a leader in innovative education including an interdisciplinary curriculum wherein students' learning crosses disciplines via year-long classroom themes, a strong athletic program in which every child has the opportunity to be on a team, a health and wellness curriculum, an exemplary arts program and a commitment to community service and global awareness. About 20% of the student body represents diversity. The school is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England [1].

[edit] Charles River Creative Arts Program
The Charles River Creative Arts Program (CRCAP), the summer day program of the school, was founded in 1970 to provide an environment in which young people could pursue and develop an interest in the arts.
Students pick their own schedule from a wide range of classes in art, writing, media, performing arts, gymnastics, textiles, sports, and photography. At CRCAP, young people can pursue current interests or investigate new areas of endeavor. Here is the opportunity to explore and develop potential in areas which will provide lifelong enjoyment, and at the same time express the creativity and individualism unique in every young person.
CRCAP is currently in its 38th season, and under the direction of Toby Dewey.
Every Summer the camp produces two original productions, one for each of the two sessions. They are always amazing, just like the frappes that Peter Dewey makes at the Apple Kitchen.
