Charles Lyon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charles Lyon (March 18, 1878 — December 3, 1959) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played for Derbyshire during the 1902 season. Lyon was born in Rocester Lodge and died in Ightfield.
Lyon's debut came against Worcestershire, which Derbyshire drew after Worcestershire's first innings finished with each of the first three batsman hitting centuries, one of whom, Henry Foster, was part of the cricketing family widely known as Fostershire. Less than a week later, Lyon made his second and last first-class appearance, against Nottinghamshire.
Lyon's uncle Walter, played first-class cricket for Cambridge University between 1861 and 1863, while his brother-in-law Colin Campbell played Minor Counties cricket for Staffordshire between 1913 and 1921.
