Charles Lonsdale

Charles Lonsdale is the British Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia; a post he has held since succeeding Anthony Cantor in January 2008.[1]
Lonsdale has worked in the British diplomatic service for twenty years, in a variety of notable posts. Between 1990 and 1993, he was Second Secretary in Budapest, Hungary; and was First Secretary in Moscow, Russia between 1998 and 2000.
At the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London, UK, Lonsdale has been Deputy Head of the Afghanistan Group between 2003 and 2005. Before his appointment as Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, Lonsdale was Deputy Head of the Human Rights, Democracy and Governance Group at the FCO in London.
He speaks French, Russian and Hungarian.
