Charles H. Pond

Charles Hobby Pond (born April 26, 1781, Milford, Connecticut; died April 28, 1861) was an American politician who was Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut (1850-53), and who served as Governor for seven months (1853-54) after the resignation of Governor Thomas Hart Seymour.
Pond graduated from Yale University in 1802. He was a judge of the New Haven County Court from 1816-87, sheriff of New Haven from 1820-34, and then again a County Court judge from 1836-37. He became Lieutenant Governor in 1850 and succeeded to the governorship in 1853. He did not seek reelection. Pond died in 1861 and is buried in Milford Cemetery. He is memorialized on the Milford Founding Fathers Memorial in Milford.
