Chanoine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Chanoine is the French for canon, a member of the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church.[1]

The President of France is entitled to be named an Honorary Canon of the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome, a custom surviving from similar honors granted to the king of France.[2]
