Change of blood lineage is a key theological concept in the Providence of restoration taught by the Unification Church. Unificationists believe that because the fall of man was a departure from the original will of God, mankind must join with God in restoring the original ideal that was lost. This involves removing the original sin which even saved Christians pass on to their descendants through their lineage (see kinship and descent). Important biblical figures involved in this process include Tamar[disambiguation needed], Sara (wife of Abram), Rebekah (mother of Jacob) and Mary (mother of Jesus).
