Chandler Grafner was a 7-Year old boy from the Denver area who was beaten and eventually starved to death on May 6, 2007 by his legal guardians, Jon Phillips and his girlfriend Sarah Berry.
Chandler was placed in a closet at his home and was not fed until he died from "restricted access to fluids and caloric intake."
Although there were many reports into 2 separate county's Department of Human Resources locations about possible child abuse and other red flags, Chandler was allowed to stay with his guardians and ultimately led to his death.
One of the reports, Chandler told his kindergarten teacher, "Dad kept slapping my ear in the shower. He smacked me in the neck and kept putting me in the water."
Another report describes abuse of Chandler and said he had a "bruised and swollen right ear" and a "mark on his neck."
At the time of his death, 7-Year old Chandler weighed only 34lbs.
