Chacewater

Chacewater is a village and civil parish in the Carrick district of Cornwall, in the United Kingdom. It lies between Truro and Redruth.
Chacewater sits in a valley between hills separating it from Threemilestone, Scorrier and St Day close to [1] and the Poldice Valley and the Coast to Coast cycle route[2].
The village has three Pubs, a health centre, a primary school, a village hall and small selection of shops, as well as an Anglican Church[3] [4], dedicated to St. Paul. The Methodist Chapel[5] is closed, pending repairs.
A free monthly magazine What's on in Chacewater reached its 200th issue in July 2007.It lists events and activities, such as the Football Club[6], a Cricket Club[7], a Bowlng Club[8], the Chacewater Old Cornwall Society[9], the Chacewater Players, the Carnival (held in August), the Blind Club and a Women's Institute. The Kernow Microscopial Society meets in Chacewater.
Chacewater railway station was opened by the West Cornwall Railway on 25 August 1852 but has long since closed.
Jonathan Hornblower, the steam pioneer, was born here, as was Matthew Paul Moyle, the meteorologist and geologist.

There are two Nursery Gardens, Sunny Corner Nurseries [10] and Roseland House Nursery][11], which holds a National Collection of Clematis viticella cultivars" and of Lapageria rosea, the Chilean Bellflower.
