Chōhō (era)

Chōhō (長保?) was a Japanese era (年号, nengō,?, lit. "year name") after Chōtoku and before Kankō. This period spanned the years from 999 through 1004. The reigning emperor was Ichijō-tennō (一条天皇?).[1]

- Chōhō gannen (長保元年?); 999: The new era name was created to mark an event or a number of events. The previous era ended and a new one commenced in Chōtoku 5, on the 13th day of the 1st month of 999.[2]
