Hi Jessica, thanks for your interest in improving the Enantiostasis stub. Thanks for finding my typo. Your examples of "state": "(such as metabolic and physiological function)", make me a bit uncomfortable. The reason is, in the definition I was trying to make a distinction between "state" and "function". In my understanding, homeostasis conserves function BY conserving state, whereas enantiostasis conserves function by finding a different state that still achieves the same function. Therefore it's a bit strange to say that "function" is an example of "state". Instead, when I wrote "state", I was thinking of things like the particular intracellular salt concentration. Now, here's the rub. I've never studied biology at all (I'm a materials scientist). So you're sure to know more about it than me, so I'd appreciate your opinion. 99of9 04:52, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
