Centropyge is a genus of marine angelfishes. Species in this group do not exceed 15cm in length. Although it is hard to identify their gender; females are shorter and more round finned (which is more obvious when looking at a group of specimens).[1]. Like clownfish, species in this genus are hermaphrodites, but change from female to male instead of male to female in clownfish. The dominant centropyge changes to a male to pair up with the other, which takes about 60 days.

[edit] In aquaria
In most cases, they prefer reef tanks. The difficulty of keeping varies from species to species, rarity also. If multiple Centropyge are kept in a tank, they will fight against each other. Most species swim in most parts of the tank, others prefer the bottom parts or hiding in corals.
Species which difficulty is medium: Centropyge argi, Centropyge acanthops, Centropyge aurantonotus, Centropyge bispinosa.
Species for experts: Centropyge bicolor.
