Central Park Rangers F.C.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Central Park Rangers FC is an amateur soccer club for men and women in New York City.

The club was formed in Feb 1999, and grew from a 5 a side team at Chelsea Piers called Blue Hawaii into what is now a club of 7 men's and 2 women's teams.

This club enables people to play competitive and fun soccer and also likes to have fun off the field. The various teams allow for different skill and commitment levels, but it is not for beginners. At they same time they do not play players and expenses are covered by annual player dues, fundraisers and sponsor assistance.

The club currently has teams within the following leagues and divisions:

CPR Men's White - Cosmpolitan League Division 1
CPR Men's White - Cosmpolitan League Division 1 Reserves
CPR Men's Red - Cosmpolitan League Division 2
CPR Men's Red - Cosmpolitan League Division 2 Reserve
CPR Men's Old Boys - Cosmpolitan League Over 30's Division

CPR Women's White - NYMWSL B Division

They are currently sponsored by The Central Bar (previous pub sponsors were Doc Watsons, the Parlour and Fiddlesticks).

Local rivals include Barnstonworth Rovers and Manhattan Kickers.

The virtual trophy cabinet includes some of the lower division titles in the CSL, as well as several MetroSoccerNY fall/spring championships, but the CSL Division 1 championship is still a big goal.

CPR also enters men's and co-ed teams in winter and summer leagues (MetroSoccer) and various tournaments, including an annual trip to Las Vegas with SoccerResort.
