It's a grand grouse any policy with economic target which essentially entails building up of any country's revenue profile and ignoring the cultural dimension of it's human capital resource,it's most defective. If we truly want to be economically 'rich',we must begin with creating men and women,babes and guys who can stand firm on their feet,change the warped mentality savagely undermined by colonialism.Put work into the process by which their minds are educated,entertained,indoctrinated and liberated. Culture is the great surgeon of the mind.Thorough visual images of the plastic and performing arts,we can become controllers of our own destiny.The ability of the arts to give concrete shapes and visible form to the great fantasies of the mind make the artists,great vissionaries who can create and innovate for the society and these attributes make them central to any economic planning for the national development of any nation.Art express the essence of civilization and nurture the highest inspiration of the human spirit.The African government need to ensure that art and culture are woven into the very fibre of her education curriculum and place subsidies heavily on cost of running her cultural institutions so her cultural institutions can run facilities for live performances,music,drama,film,dance as well as visual art exhibition. African leaders should underwrite her cultural programmes with the same financial zeal and energy with which it supports it's corporate investment,technological advancement,agricultural and oil refining projects.We cannot in Africa advance technologically and economically at the expense of our arts and culture neither can we rob arts to pay science nor economics.
