Celtic cross stitch embroidery art is the most common and the most appreciated form of the cross stitch. They have rich and deep colors, intricate designs which make them extraordinarily eye catching and unique. The Celtic patterns are typically embellished with geometrical patterns, spirals, interlacing patterns, knot works, alphabets, animal forms and zoomorphic patterns.
[edit] History
Celtic cross stitch is a simple and elegant way of doing embroidery. This method of embroidery is very old, but still popular as was in ancient times. It was originated from itinerant warriors called Celts almost 25 centuries ago. The Celts were best known for their creativity, poetry, embroidery art, pattern making, myths and stories.
Throughout the history, the Celts have always been known for their mystical and obscure embroidery art patterns. These ancient tribes were lead by the Kings, Queens and Chieftans. They have their origins from parts of Europe as well as Asia
These Celtic cross stitch embroideries are very much part of the heritage found in Scotland, Isle of Man and Ireland. Till now, all these cross stitch patterns have been excessively used in the daily routines ranging from cushion covers to tapestries, from tea cozies to spectacle’s covers or even from cloths to wall hangings.
