Celestial bronze

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Celestial bronze is a fictional material used by demigods and gods in the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The Hunters are known to have used it. Annabeth and Percy use it also. In Percy's case, it is a sword named Anaklusmos (Riptide). Weapons made from celestial bronze is known to wound immortals, but not mortals. That is why demigods and gods favor it.

[edit] Weapons of Celestial Bronze

Anaklusmos was made from celestial bronze. It is originally a ballpoint pen, but when it is uncapped, it "grows" to form a "shimmering bronze sword with a double-edged blade, a leather-wrapped grip, and a flat hilt riveted with gold studs." Percy said that it was the first weapon to have felt balanced in his hand. It was forged by the Cyclopes, tempered in the heart of Mount Etna, and cooled in the river Lethe. Annabeth uses a short dagger made of celestial bronze, which she often keeps in one sleeve. Also, Nico, son of Hades, used a celestial bronze sword in The Titan's Curse, which is known to be able to "kill the dead," or, in other words, kill again the zombies and ghosts that are already deceased.
