Celebrity residents of the Bahamas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bahamas has one of the largest register of Anglo-Saxon and influential black celebrities who reside permanently or have legal residential status in a country not of their native birth, hometown or place of origin.
This is primarily due to the fact that the country has a favorable financial sector that is tax free (from income, capital gains, sales tax, among others) and is one of the top three worldwide centres in offshore banking. Also, there is an unmatched tourism product, boasting #1 in the Caribbean and Atlantic region among island destinations. Another is a favorable immigration policy toward wealthy nationals who invest (commercial or residential) $500k or more qualifies automatically for permanent residential status. Proximity to the United States and Canada also play a vital role in this social phenomenon.
