[edit] Welsh music

Hiya. Wow, what a lot of contributions in barely a week: welcome to Wikipedia! I have one question, though. You removed a reference to the Poppies in the Music of Wales article with the edit summary "pseudonym for the Alarm". I'm a bit confused now. First, I didn't see it mentioned in the article about The Alarm: so if you have a cite for this, it should probably go into that article. Second, there are obviously several bands with the name. The band I saw recently were definitely not the Alarm. Nor were they the 60s group from Australia which seems to have acquired the article. (Some disambiguation needed there, I think..) The ones I'm thinking of are from Aberystwyth and were formed in the last couple of years, hence their mention in the context of the 21st century. In fairness, they're probably not as well-known as the other bands mentioned there, so perhaps we should wait until they are before putting them back in. But I am pretty sure they're not the Alarm :) --Telsa 19:59, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your reversions

Why have you reverted my corrections to a number of articles? I changed, for example, Album to Album and Britain to United Kingdom, I removed some duplicated links to years, removed "???" etc. — all in accordance with the Wikipedia Manual of Style and normal English conventions. --Phronima 13:46, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

I happened to be doing my occasional trawl through recent changes (mainly looking for new-page vandalism to be marked for speedy deletion) when my eye was caught by one of the titles with wrongly capitalised prepositions and/or articles -- and that led me into a chain of articles as I followed links to other albums... By the end I was wishing that I'd never started! When I checked the histories I realised that I was sometimes seconds behind you, but (apart from the first one) that was mostly coincidence.
I see that the triple question mark is OK according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums (though I must say I don't like it; a dash would be better, I think), but the running time should be mm:ss, and I think that "n/a" should be lower case (and not italicised?); again, though, would a dash look better? --Phronima 16:20, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
That's weird; it looks as though someone recently moved Album (music) to Album without explanation, and with no discussion on the Talk page. That's irritating, especially considering the thousands of articles that link to the former, but also because other uses of the word "album" are just as prominent. --Phronima 10:10, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sources for Play (EP)

Hello, good work on Play (EP), and thanks for the contribution. However, you did not provide any references or sources in the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Play (EP)? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? You can simply add links, or see WP:CITET if you wish to review some of the different citation methods. Thanks!  BRIAN0918  13:19, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

  • For albums, you can find an online source such as Amazon.com or Discogs.com, or you can just list the album as your source, with all the necessary details. — BRIAN0918 • 2005-12-7 14:31
It's not just a good idea, it's necessary. You need to establish not just that the work is real, but that it's notable. See WP:MUSIC. Otherwise the article(s) will probably be deleted, sooner or later. Regards, Ben Aveling 10:28, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hey, thanks for finishing what I started

I'm glad you have extenesive knowledge of Fruit Bats. They're a great band. By any chance are you a member (former or current) of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps? My friend is and thought that might be where you got you name. If not, must be a coincidence. No matter. Take care and thanks.

Well, thanks for the message. Always great to learn about cultural facts from across the world. Nothing like that in Indiana, well that's a lie, they call me by my surname 'Mason' here in Indiana. They also call me "The Jar" after Mason jars. Well, keep in contact and get me heads up on any music you deem as a must listen. Cheers.

[edit] Yorkshireisms

Thanks a lot for adding something to the page; Right on, mate. Could you leave a note on the dicussion page where you heard the phrase? "Mack-off". It sounds like ´eff off to me, and not something that is big.

Great to know that there is someone else that likes Stina, by the way... andreasegde 13:40, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Great work reverting the vandal stuff.

I´ll go with you on the Beef thing. Just because I´ve never heard it means sod-all... laugh... Have a reet gud time. andreasegde 12:54, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Helen of Troy

If I have followed the logic correctly your girlfriend looks like the said Helen, eh?! Extremely old, crusty and long dead, then ! You must get out more, my dear young thing.

And what is it about guinea pigs ? But, as dear old Sir Winston Churchill said - "Keep buggering on".

[edit] Norman Foster

I was browsing your page and noticed in the section about what you like, the Norman Foster link goes to a dab page. You may want to fix this. -FateSmiled&DestinyLaughed 16:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Cockpit (Leeds) move

I agree with your move of the article on The Cockpit (Leeds), but in future you should use the page move tool for this. It has a number of benefits, including maintaining the page history. It is also required for copyright reasons. I have placed a speedy deletion tag on the new page, but don't worry — once it is sorted by an administrator, the content will appear back at your new page. — cBuckley (TalkContribs) 10:24, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Boo!

Ooh you, I have a funny feeling we've meet somewhere before, your name sounds ever so familiar...x NiamhInTheSky 00:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair Use Rational for Image:Rafis Revenge.jpg

Thanks for the note, I've updated the page with a rational, never done one before *smacks own wrist* --Factorylad 16:15, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

Thanks for your help with this. I think i have completed it correctly. It;'d be great if you could just check [1]. Thanks. --Neon white 16:08, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Longpigs

I've recently created pages for The Sun Is Often Out and Mobile Home and used the covers you uploaded. I've had to add a rationale to both images to ensure they aren't deleted but don't know where you got them from - would you be able to fill in the info? (just Amazon.com or whatever will do)

I think I just scanned them in myself. CincyUte 20:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Album galleries

Hey how's it going? just noticed you reverted the album gallery i put into the gruff rhys article. i'm not too worried about it, although i think it's a shame cos they look pretty nice. however i've noticed them on other band pages under discography, so i wondered if you could let me know what exactly is the policy on them, just so i know myself for future reference. :) cheers Warchef 18:45, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Lemonheads template

Replied to your message about the Lemonheads template. Alex (talk) 01:50, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:CREnumber

Thanks for your support there mate. I really thought you'd swung it for us.

That whole procedure was total BS. The original tfd for FACnumber was by a sock-puppet Dreamwave444, then when I gave my support for it, Arthur thought I had created CREnumber in response to the FACnumber tfd & made CREnumber tfd without telling me.

Then, even when IceKarma decided to keep it, Arthur still had to have a word so Ice would delete it. Dyaimz 00:08, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prods, and care

If anyone disagrees with a prod, they can just remove it. As for Valentine (Delays song), I think I was going to put a references needed tag, but put the notability tag by accident. Sorry about that. Fee Fi Foe Fum (talk) 02:05, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Xpert Eleven

A tag has been placed on Xpert Eleven requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. скоморохъ 18:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Number of users does not confer notability. See WP:WEB. скоморохъ 18:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Freebass

An editor has nominated Freebass, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Freebass and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
