In August 2007, an announcement was made that a partial demolition will occur in order to reduce the size of the mall and consolidate remaining tenants in one location (at present, the Cavedish mall essentially can be classified as a dead mall with its high number of vacancies spread out through the building). The plan is to demolish the south section of the mall and sell the land to housing developers. If approved by the city of Cote-Saint-Luc, the demolition could occur before the end of 2007.
