Catfish and The Crawdaddies is an American Blues-based band from Sacramento, California founded in 1985 that has released three notable CDs: "I'm So Glad (2007)", "Venus Blues (2003)" and "Blues from Another Delta (1998)". Their music has also been featured on the discs "Sacramento Blues" and "Sacramento Blues Too". They have brought out a sound and style of music that is somewhat indigenous to the Sacramento River Delta region. This "Other Delta" music is a Blues based sound with different cultures mixed in including Louisiana, West coast jazz & Blues with mixtures of acoustic Blues, Folk music and Rock and Roll. Their music has been heard on radio stations all over the world including Spain, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, London & Japan. In 2005 they won a SAMMIE (Sacramento Area Music Award) for "Outstanding Blues Band".
As of 2007 the band consists of Ray "Catfish" Copeland (guitar, vocals), Phil Minas (drums, vocals), Jim Monroe (piano, vocals), Dale Lyberger (bass, vocals) and Stan Powell (harmonica, guitar, vocals). Previous members have included Mark Marsh (bass), Liz Peel (bass) and Sam Joseph (percussion).
Ray "Catfish" Copeland is one of the founding members of the Blues band[1]. They have performed with or as a backup band to such notable talents as Floyd Dixon, Big Mama Thornton, Chuck Berry, J. J. Cale, Redwing, Luther Tucker and Peppermint Harris.
