[edit] Spelling

I'm pretty sure that the original spelling in the comics, cartoons and toy was "Greyskull". All Masters Of The Universe entries should be changed to reflect that.

Actually the spelling has appeared as both Grayskull and Greyskull. However, Grayskull is the correct spelling.
Sadly, most of the information for Castle Grayskull is incorrect and seems to be nothing more than a fan's personal fan-fiction rather than what has been established in various sources.
The information contained in History, Preternia and Modern is incorrect and either needs to be removed completely or rewritten.
It may be best to seperate the page into various categories such as Toys, Comics/Mini-Comics, Cartoons and Movie.

I got lots of the info from different sites so I assumed that these people got their info from various Marsters of the universe media, such as mini-comics and the cartoon etc. I don't have any sources myself, but will try to find some. If I can find any that back up what I added I don't feel that there would be a need to separate the history out into comics, film, etc.NeilEvans 14:14, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

In reference to the spelling of Grayskull, the spelling with the "a" is correct as that is the American spelling and since Masters is American the spelling reflects that.NeilEvans 14:38, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I fixed the spelling error of 'sorcerous.' It's 'sorceress' (a female sorcerer).

I'm not putting it back in, but the second half of the now removed history section was actually correct, it formed the basis for the He-Man/She-Ra movies.

It's irrelevant to this page as it is nothing to do with the castle (it's the plot of the motion picture that launched She-Ra). Besides, I can't remember things clearely enough not to accidentally put the embelishments back in along with the real bits.

[edit] Toy came first

The castle toy was first marketed as a HQ for Skeletor (hence its ominous appearance). The original TV commercials involved kids playing with the toy and having Skeletor, sitting on the throne, dump He-Man down the trap door in the floor. It was only after the TV show aired several years later that the castle was positioned as the HQ for the good guys, which IMO made no fucking sense. It's a big skull! Skeletor is a big skullface! Not True. Since the beginning, the Mini Comics that were included with the action figures, had Skeletor always scheming to enter Grayskull to obtain its secrets. I defy anyone to site a source identifies Grayskull as the HQ of Skeletor. That portion of this article should be deleted.

Holy crap man. You guys are so right. http://www.x-entertainment.com/messages/641.html has the whole shameful truth - the commercial I remember, in every detail. Except it's Skeletor trying to get in. I don't know why I misremembered that so distinctly. I'll have to talk to my therapist about what this means.   • I agree - always from the beginning, from the very first mini-comic ('He-Man and the Power Sword') it was protected by the Heroic Warriors, with Skeletor always wanting to take control of it. But something to point out, very early on, things were sometimes very blurred as to what side who was on - Stratos, for example, was several times shown as an Evil Warrior in early appearances. And the box itself show's Beast Man seemingly working alongside the Heroic Warriors!

[edit] why were they trying to get in?

it's been forever since i saw this programme (original 80s series) but i used to watch it religiously. if i remember correctly (i can't cite the episode(s)), castle grayskull was originally the headquarters of the council of elders, who evidently ruled the universe, and made their hq on eternia because it was 'at the centre of the universe'. the council of elders has died out save for zodak who flies about space on some sort of chair and the castle itself is left empty. because of it having been the hq of a group who ruled the universe, many wicked people presumed that it contained 'secrets' which would allow them to rule the universe. that's why the sorceresses began living there presumably. only two sorceresses were mentioned in the cartoon: kodak agnes (previous) and teela knot (sp?) (current). teela (the guard captain at eternos) is the heir apparent to be the next sorceress as she is the daughter of the current sorceress and her husband who evidently died when the evil horde invaded eternia to kidnap adam and adora.
