[edit] Arabic etymology
I had assumed this word derives from قشطة (qashaTa) which means a kind of dessert. See the dictionary page http://dictionary.sakhr.com/idrisidic_2.asp?Sub=%de%d4%d8%c9
In any case, the transliteration provided is almost certainly not accurate. I found the article that the writer was probably referencing http://www.inmamaskitchen.com/FOOD_IS_ART/sicilian_food_cooking.html
but it only mentions the etymology and doesn't provide any backup as to what the Arabic word is. I don't have a source that confirms my suspicions about the etymology, so I am going to reduce the article to saying only that it is of Arabic origin and add a citation needed (better to say nothing than to be inaccurate). Anyway if anyone has any info please do update.
I thought this was about the cake not the word and the only cassada cake I know of is nothing like this and im italian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.205.106.191 (talk) 21:28, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
