Castletown Shoppingworld
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Castletown Shoppingworld is a shopping centre in Townsville, Australia. The second-largest centre in the district, Castletown has four major tenants along with 105 specialty stores, and is owned by Mcconaghy Properties.
[edit] Expansion
Castletown recently completed an expansion project that included a new Target department store (replacing the existing store) and an extra 40 specialty stores and a 450-seat food court. The expansion opened on 13 June 2007.
The last expansion that the shopping centre undertook was in 1997 with the addition of an expanded Woolworths Supermarket and an Action Supermarket. Basement parking was also included.
In 2005, centre owners Mcconaghy Properties brought out many properties on the adjacent side of Barryman street, the southern border of the shopping centre complex. It is assumed that Barryman St will be realigned over the existing properties to allow expansion of the centre at a latter date.
