[edit] Geography

The village is located about 110 km southeast of Rome and about 30 km east of Frosinone. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 645 and an area of 28.4 km².[1]

[edit] Forte family

The hotellier Charles Forte was born in the village of Mortale, just outside Casalattico. Formerly a farming community, the village has now been largely turned over to holiday homes for the Forte family and their relatives.[citation needed] In the 1970s the village started to call itself Monforte (or Monforte Casalaticco) in his honour "after some mysterious local plebiscite".[2] The name Mortale is still found on maps.
