[edit] Siouxsie
Hi there, thanks for all your additions to the Siouxsie-related articles! Your content is good, but please be careful with your formatting.... album titles should always be italicised and song titles are "quoted". Also make sure you are capitalizing proper names, such as countries, continents (Europe) or months of the year (October), etc. Thanks a lot! - eo 16:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your work there, but the criterion for including external links is whether they help this project, not whether they are endorsed by the article's subject. Please see WP:EL for more information. --John 16:20, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Siouxsie & the Banshees and Siouxsie Sioux
Hi, I noticed you removed the "punk rock" tags from the info boxes on the articles for both Siouxsie & the Banshees and Siouxsie Sioux. I have reverted them. While I certainly agree with you that they became largely popular during the post-punk period, they certainly are very much associated with the punk rock genre and I don't believe the labels should be removed. They may have evolved (as they did into several genres) but they were indeed a punk rock band initally, and as such the punk labels in genre should remain. I don't think many people would dispute that they began as, and were an influential part of the British punk scene. Thanks ExRat (talk) 21:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response Carliertwo. I still have to say I completely disagree with your statement that they never released any "punk music." Ever listened to "Love In A Void", "Carcass", "Bad Shape" or "Make Up To Break Up"? I know we are treading murky territory when we start to try to categorize - it's a clearly subjective thing. The first "Peel Sessions" were recorded and aired in 1977, they also appeared in Don Letts' Punk Rock Movie and they appeared performing in at least two other punk documentaries in filmed in 1977. Other singles routinely crop up on punk rock anthologies and they are consistently featured in documentaries, books, etc. whenever there is mention of the British punk years. Also, the term "post-punk" is a rather revisionist reflective term that is used now, and I can cite a thousand examples of "The Scream" and "Join Hands" labelled "punk" albums - and I am of the opinion that they were indeed "punk" albums. Anyway, I think all related genres should be listed in the genre section, and to edit out their punk inception (when they were so extremely influential in the genre) I think is sort of peculiar. You say that it "mentions it in the opening paragraph". Well, then it should be listed in the genre section. They were a punk band and were still referred to as punk band until at least 1980. Also, they seem to get stuck with the "goth" label a lot, which . . . I don't really get or understand, but I left that listing as they have been labelled that. As well as the "new wave" tag, which I certainly wouldn't describe them as. It's all a bit murky categorizing, I guess. Anyway, I see you've done a lot of hard work on the pages, thanks. [edit] The Cure and WesleyDodds
Hi, Carliertwo - I think you might be someone from TheBansheesAndOtherCreatures board, but I have forgotten or have it wrong - and thanks for your message on my talkpage. I would comment that I have generally found WesleyDodds to be a good editor with a lot of knowledge regarding punk/new wave/alternative rock articles - and quite friendly and easy to work with. I also was unable to trace any comments you left for him on the article talkpage, his or your talkpages - and edit summaries are not the best way of communicating. I note your comments about the section that is under dispute having consensus since earlier this year, but as you note the encyclopedia can be edited by anyone. I suggest that you open a discussion on the article talkpage why you believe it relevant that Smith's exposure to working with SatB changed the direction or tone he employed in the Cure's writing and recording, and see if other editors agree or disagree. I think it is WesleyDodd's case to prove that removal of the content (which is cited) is necessary - but this is not something to get into an edit war about, but rather something that should be resolved by discussion and agreement. To that end I shall note this discussion on WesleyDodds talkpage, in the hope that he will agree to initiate a discussion on the matter. Cheers.LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:56, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
