Thanks for uploading Image:Dean's-ACT-Logo-(Vector)-formal-FINAL.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. There are issues other than copyright. Wikipedia and the Alliance's website serve fundamentally different purposes and there are noticeable problems:

  • Copy-pasting the website would not follow the manual of style. Notice how the article you posted looks completely different for articles on, say, the WHO. Because of the enormous backlog, copy-pasted articles take months to clean up.
  • Wikipedia articles do not contain contact information
  • The Alliance's website is unclear for Wikipedia readers. What is the NOAA? What is the Alliance's purpose? It's important to keep the audience in mind.
  • The Alliance's website isn't written according to a neutral point of view.
  • Your references are not specifically about the Alliance. Could the information on the Alliance be merged into another article?

Finally, consider the point that Wikipedia is not a web mirror. There is no benefit to copying the organization's website onto Wikipedia since it only provides redundant information. If no editors dedicate themselves to updating the Wikipedia article, it may fall out of date, which would actually be detrimental.-Wafulz (talk) 18:18, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
