Cary Capparelli (R. Cary Capparelli born February 12, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois) is the President of Omni Communique Inc., an international sports management and marketing company.
He is the son of Ralph C. Capparelli, an 18 term legislator in the Illinois House of Representatives.
Capparelli played collegiate ice hockey at Northeastern Illinois University winning two team scoring titles. He was named twice to the original Central States Collegiate Hockey League All Star Team. He later received his undergraduate degree from Drake University and also holds advanced degrees from Northwestern University and Northeastern Illinois University. Presently, Capparelli is enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of London.
As a race car driver, he started over 250 race events throughout Europe and North America; mostly in the Formula 2000 and Formula 3 categories. He accumulated 7 career wins in the lower formulas.
As head of Omni Communique Inc., Capparelli organized the first motorsport competitions between the former Soviet Union and the United States. In 2000, he formed the United States Formula 3 Championship in association with Volkswagen. He has worked with many world-class race car drivers including Formula 1 pilot Teddy Pilette, NASCAR driver, John Andretti, IRL star Adrian Fernandez and Indianapolis 500 winners Tom Sneva and Danny Sullivan.
Capparelli is a board member of the Illinois International Port Authority.
