[edit] Jimmy Carter redirect

Does it really make sense for this to redirect straight to the US president? There are a lot of Carters out there, including a half-dozen towns and an occupation. Just looking for opinions, in case this is soemthing that's been debated before.-FZ 21:21, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] The Answer

No. It does not make sense for "Carter" to redirect to Jimmy Carter. I did a search on "Carter" looking for information on Carter G. Woodson. That's not Wikilove at all...

[edit] Capt. Thomas J. Carter

Dumping him; added by IP; only signs of verification are [1] and [2], which suggest no hint of notability.

[edit] Separate Last Name Article

IMHO, it should be merged back here. It's not that long. This is a disambiguation page, so it should provide quick access to all the carters without having to go to a separate page. I was looking for Jimmy Carter, so I tried entering just "Carter", but now I have to click through to a separate article and then search through a list of miscellaneous carters.. Annoying. [edit] Jimmy

Okay, I agree that Jimmy Carter shouldn't be where this page redirects to, but surely he should be prominently featured toward / at the top of this page? As it stands, the only redirect to him is as part of a reference to one of his relations. Someone looking for the president who does not notice that aside will have to click on the Carter surname page and then scroll down to the J's and then click on Jimmy. The Ford article has a redirect to Gerald right at the top, a far less important / known former president (IMO, of course), and Ford is probably an even more common surname than Carter... Anyways, just thought it strange that it's easier to find the link to the USS Jimmy Carter than the man it was named after... Feel free to tell me why I'm wrong. 67.189.146.29 (talk) 04:36, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
