A really impressive movie. A former Gulag jailer (Russian: Вертухай) turned a policemen goes on a killing spree. Clearly a film about omnipotence of secret services in modern Russia, although set in the Soviet Union of 1984 (hint to Nineteen Eighty-Four). A lot of allegories. Two women in the film seem to symbolize Russian people: a young girl raped by the jailer (his "wife"), and jailer's mother, an old women who passively watch TV in a zomby-like state, whereas her son brings dead bodies to a room next to her.Biophys (talk) 04:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
