i am not a fan of the layout of this page, could i propose to make a new page which is solely for cardiff city players as the long list isnt really adding anything at all to the page DaveLewis 04:01, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Isn't it Cardiff City AFC?

[not much else to say here] Gurkha 11:37, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hmm, you might well think so, but the club website never seems to mention "AFC" (the URL is www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk). Perhaps it's just been quietly dropped. -- Arwel 17:32, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A lack of information?

Does anybody else think we should maybe have a little more information here? I do my best but I don't know an awful lot of history about the club as i'm only 20years old! Perhaps something about the ongoing dispute about what league we should play in (given the ongoing whinging from scottish clubs about them not being allowed to join the english system) Any suggestions? --Murfilicious 14:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree, there should certainly be more information on the 2nd placed finish in the old (old) first division, as I believe it was one of the closest title finishes ever.

[edit] Number 7

The following edit removed a fair amount of content without comment. Do we know why? [1] -Harmil 16:27, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] European football

Is it true that Cardiff would not be able to play in Europe should they make it, as they waived the right when they joined the English League. can't see it in the article but if it's true it should be mentioned. Jimmmmmmmmm 09:40, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

The possiblr EURO ban has been overturned. Can someone update this? Link http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23596414-23215,00.html Mightymouseman (talk) 05:58, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

I have already added a short sentence about it at the bottom of the section. If I get the time I will try and expand on it but at the moment it should be enough. Kosack (talk) 08:58, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stadium

I had to alter this section, as it read as if some Swansea supporter had vandalised it!

[edit] Sheepshaggers and Sheepmunchers

Are these self-given names or inappropriate nicknames from rivals, and if the latter, do they really have a place in Wikipedia?

[edit] My revert

Sorry if my revert was not quick enough, but I was trying to undo this [20:13, 18 January 2007 82.7.198.205. I seem to have written over changes by both User:143.117.143.182 and User:Chris the speller. Will try and put them back in. Thanks. --EarthPerson 20:24, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Is there any way of getting the information back that was posted under the heading Rivalries? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.117.143.182 (talkcontribs) 20:35, 18 January 2007

That's it back on. Many Thanks. Shared IP address so having some problems with 'vandalism' apparently—Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.117.143.182 (talkcontribs) 20:45, 18 January 2007

[edit] Rivalry

I recently posted some information about rivalry between Cardiff City and Swansea City supporters. Could someone please read over it and make sure this is suitable for Wikipedia. The part about Lee Trundle brandishing a flag with anti-cardiff city remarks on it could possibly be offensive ("FUCK OFF CARDIFF") so perhaps an administrater could check what ive wrote just to make sure. Thanks143.117.143.182 20:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)jOl18/01/07

[edit] What's happened with the formatting?

As above, it appears something might be wrong with the info box...? Pennywisepeter 13:02, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:CCFC previous crest.jpg

Image:CCFC previous crest.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:46, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page Move

I have undone the page move to Cardiff City A.F.C. since the official site here clearly gives the name as Cardiff City Football Club (see footer). BlueValour (talk) 21:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Charlotte Church?

Is there any evidence she's a fan? I've lived in Cardiff all my life, never seen her at a game - never heard or read one public utterance about City.

Should that be removed until substantiated - and indeed, should the other celeb fans be checked out too?

Minkythecat (talk) 13:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Apparentley she appeared in some Walkers crisp advert saying she supported Cardiff or something (never seen it myself). Thats all I know.

i've seen her state that she's not aprticularly interested in football —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.125.83.50 (talk) 16:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

As for the others I can say that Neil Kinnock, Super Furry Animals, Gareth Thomas, Matthew Pritchard, Dannie Abse, Gavin Willliams, Aaron Davies, Stanley Baker, David Sullivan, Ken Follett, Roald Dahl and David Davies are definate city fans and I can provide refs on all of them. The rest were added by other people or before I registered so I cant say. Kosack (talk) 15:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the others are fine - Church I don't believe. The Walkers advert was scripted, any other team could have been subbed in. Minkythecat (talk) 07:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] European section

Tidied it up to remove typos. The examples given, used to support Cardiff's case - is it possible to further expand and clarify the situation? As far as I can tell, Monaco, for example, can play as French representative as which there is a Monaco FA, there isn't a domestic league - same situation for Lichtenstein. Cardiff's situation is completely different as we do have a league. Any other thoughts? Minkythecat (talk) 07:32, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Well although Monaco and Lichtenstein dont have their own leagues I dont see how their situation is any different from ours in that a team from another country is trying to qualify for Europe, not to mention the fact that the League of Wales only came into existence in 1992. There are other clubs as well such as Wellington Phoenix, Toronto FC and even Berwick Rangers who have their own domesitc league but I only added the section quickly as, judging by a few edits in recent months, this seems to be a hot topic at the moment. Kosack (talk) 11:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it's definitely a hot topic. The reason I cited Monaco and Lichtenstein was simply because they aren't the same as our precise situation. As far as I'm aware, the issue with City re Europe came to a head around 1992, which implies the problem is because there's now an established Welsh league. It would need a bit more research to establish if that's the full case with regards to us, Swansea et al. Either way, the section would appear to be in flux until the full decision is made by Eufa due to the fact there's no absolute definition that can be referred to in the section. It seems the entire issue in real life is clouded in fog to the extent that the section can't necessarily cite accurately. I'm new to wiki, is there some kind of tag that can be placed upon the section to reflect that? Minkythecat (talk) 11:53, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree its all a bit up in the air right now. As for a tag I'm not sure as I never really tag articles myself so I have no idea if there is a tag for this type of section. Kosack (talk) 12:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
AS Monaco members of FFF, TNS members of FAW, Derry City members of FAI. Cardiff City members of FAW, not of FA. What else? Oh, FC Vaduz. The UEFA spokesman 1 is wrong - I already talked to FC Vaduz and Liechtenstein FA officials and they've told me Liechtenstein teams cannot qualify through the Swiss League - their only road to European football is through the Liechtenstein cup.--Edgar (talk) 11:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
It's come to an end now anyway so it doesnt matter. The FA have finally accepted that they effectivley have no say in the matter as we would have played in Europe regardless of their decision. I will probably remove most of that european ban section now, perhaps keep a paragraph or two just to have some minor info on the subject but its not really needed anymore. Kosack (talk) 11:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Club crest for next year

Next season the club will be reverting to the previous badge that was used before Sam Hammam changed it to what it is at the moment. Just thought it would be a good idea for us to try and find a free image of the badge in preparation for the next season. If we place it in the article until it is in use then swap the pictures around when the time comes. Thanks. Kosack (talk) 11:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Possible New Sections

I would like to suggest that a sub-section in the article contains a fuller detail of Cardiff City's European games. There is very little mention in the article of matches such as the Semi-Final of the Cup Winners Cup, and the tie against Real Madrid. It also is a nice link as currently there appears to be just nothing in the article that happened between 1930 & 1985.

I believe there should also be a sub-section on this year's cup run. This season will go down as one of the most important in the history of the club.

One final point regarding Notable Fans, I believe Craig Bellamy should be included. There are many news references to him over various points in time that he infrequently trains with the CCFC First Team Squad ( when returning from injury or an international coming up), and whenever he is unable to play he is usually spotted going into the ground at Cardiff City home games. 86.133.28.192 (talk) 14:19, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree the main article does need to be filled in more. I do plan to do it in the future but it took me much longer than anticipated to complete the List of Cardiff City F.C. players as well as the effort to create articles on seasons, records, current season etc and expand all the players articles that I am easing off editing for a while and just watching articles for vandalism and sloppy edits while I take a break. Hopefully once the majority of transfers have been done in the summer I will get around to it. Kosack (talk) 16:20, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Honours Section

I think that this section needs sorting out. I recently corrected some of it, but I think the entire layout is just too bad. It needs to be more smart; sorted out more. [edit] Third Strip

The club seem to have a third strip as seen on the 2008 FA Cup Final - can someone add this to the page? Exxolon (talk) 14:33, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

If you mean the template with the yellow on the shoulders and sides then that is just the away kit. I dont really know how to change the templates so all I have managed to do with them is change the colour so thats why they look different from the cup final page to this page. Kosack (talk) 14:42, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I think I've fixed it, want to check the strip is right? Exxolon (talk) 15:13, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
It looks good. The shirt and shorts are correct. The only thing I can see is the socks need a yellow band across the top, if thats possible?. There are some pics here of the whole kit.

[edit] Debt

The section mentioning the debt is unclear. First it states that the club was £40 million in debt, most of which has been cleared. A few lines later it mentions that the club is £30 million in debt (which is denied). Can this be cleared up? Greenman (talk) 09:11, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Expanded on the clubs court case so hopefully that explains things a bit better. Kosack (talk) 09:41, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
