Carrolltowne Elementary School (CES) is a public elementary school in Carroll County, Maryland, Maryland, United States. It is located on the southeast corner of the county, south of MD 26 in Eldersburg, MD.

Carrolltowne Elementary School is located on 6524 Ridge Road in Eldersburg or Sykesville, Maryland. The school was named after the surrounding neighborhood. The school district borders Eldersburg Elementary School, Piney Ridge Elementary School, and Freedom Elementary School. In 2007, the school celebrated its 30th anniversary. Like most schools in the area, the school suffers from overcrowding. Portables around the school serve the third grade.

  • In May of 2007, prekindergarten & special needs teacher Antonina Wallace was named Carroll County 2007 Teacher of the Year.[1]
  • In 2007, former Principal Martin Tierney received the Maryland School Psychologists' Association Outstanding Educator Award[2]

Student population at Carrolltowne Elementary School peaked in 1997 at 902. As of 2007, the student population is 1.1% African-American, 92.6% European-American, 1.8% Asian-Pacific Islander, 2.3% Hispanic, and 2.1% Native American.[3]

Less than 6% of the students receive free or reduced meals.[4] Nearly 17% of the students receive special education. Carrolltowne Elementary School specializes in special needs care for elementary school children.[5] Nearly 95% of the students test as proficient in reading and math and nearly half of the students qualify as advanced.[6]
