In the past she worked for New Look plc as a Non-Executive Director. She has also acted as President of Women in Advertising and Communications London.
Management Today magazine called her "One of the toughest operators to have risen through the Guardian Media Group's ranks".[2] She holds a BA degree in history and politics, and a Master’s in politics. She is married with three children.
She is said to prefer a "pragmatic approach to Human Resources rather than politically correct niceties".[3]
