Carolina First Center
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Carolina First Center is a 5,000 seat multi-purpose arena in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. It is due to be completed in 2008, and will replace John Kresse Arena as the home of the College of Charleston Cougars basketball teams. It takes its name from the South Carolina based bank who donated monies to the college in exchange for naming rights to the new facility. Carolina First Center is also the name given to the five-story office building located at 40 Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston that houses the bank's Charleston main branch (formerly Charleston Gateway Center), as well as the new name given to the former Palmetto Expo Center, a convention center in Greenville, South Carolina.
