Carmelo Oquendo Rodriquez

Carmelo Oquendo Rodriquez was born on 2 August 1976 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He is one of the youngest player ever to play in a professional basketball league. His professional debut was in 1992 with Industrials of Barceloneta, Puerto Rico in the "Liga Puertorriqueña de baloncesto de Puerto Rico". After a great season as a rookie, he earned a spot on the Capitanes de Arecibo basketball team in the Baloncesto superior nacional of Puerto Rico. Following that season, he was sent to play and study abroad at Wildwood High School of New Jersey where he averaged 27.2ppg and 12rpg during his 2 seasons. Carmelo played in several leagues overseas such as: Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, and on a few CBA and NBDL teams in the United States. He has not played in Puerto Rico since the 1996 basketball season, and has refused several invitations to play with the Puerto Rico national basketball team. Currently Carmelo Oquendo is in the United States Navy.
