Carl August Walbrodt

Carl August Walbrodt (born 28 November 1871, Amsterdam – died 3 October 1902, Berlin) was a Dutch–German chess master.
In 1890, he took 4th in Berlin (Richard Teichmann won). In 1890 he took 5th in Berlin (Horatio Caro won). In 1892 he tied for 4-5th in Dresden (Siegbert Tarrasch won). In 1893, he tied for 1st-2nd with Curt von Bardeleben in Kiel. In 1894, he tied for 4-5th in Leipzig (Tarrasch won). He took 11th at Hastings 1895.
In 1896, he took 2nd, behind von Bardeleben, and ahead of Jacques Mieses, in Berlin (Triangular), tied for 7-8th in Nuremberg (Emanuel Lasker won), and tied for 6-7th in Budapest (Rudolf Charousek and Mikhail Chigorin won). In 1897, he took 2nd, behind Charousek, in Berlin, and took 5th in Berlin (Bardeleben won). In 1898, he took 15th in Vienna (Pillsbury and Tarrasch won). [1]
Walbrodt played several matches from 1891 to 1894. He won against Schallopp, von Bardeleben, Keidanski, Delmar, Ettlinger, Vasquez, Cohn, drew with Mieses, and lost to Pillsbury, Tarrasch and Janowski. [2]
He died of tuberculosis at the age of 31.
