As of 1999 there were 24 inmates on Oregon's death row, found guilty of 78 counts of aggravated murder.

EXECUTIONS

Oregon inmates executed since reinstatement of the death penalty:

-- Sept. 6, 1996: Douglas F. Wright, who had sought execution since 1991 when he was arrested in the slayings of four homeless men found slain in a remote part of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. He was tried in Wasco County Circuit Court in 1993 and found guilty of aggravated murder for killing William Davis, 37; William Marks, 23; and Anthony Barker, 27. He was awaiting trial in federal court in the death of the fourth man, Anthony Nelson, 31.

-- May 16, 1997: Harry Charles Moore, who was convicted of killing his half-sister and her former husband. He threatened to sue anyone who tried to stop his execution. Moore said he had killed his relatives because he thought they would move to Las Vegas with one of his estranged wives and his infant daughter and expose them to a life of prostitution and drugs.
