As of July 2007, the CAN has added golf and soccer to its sports offerings and is considering a conversion to a dues-paying organization. Also as of July 2007, only softball and soccer may be played on the National Mall. National Park Service plans to fence off the Ellipse and Washington Monument Grounds in the fall and winter means other sports will move to licensed fees. In fact, CAN sports haven't played on the Ellipse regularly in over 18 months due to the extensive renovations conducted there.
