[edit] DP Review references

My references in the list are all from dpreview.com - not because it's especially better than any other third-party reference, but because they're the refs I had to hand and actually used :-) If others appear to contradict, feel free to add them, noting what Canon themselves say - David Gerard 21:06, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ixus i / SD10 / Ixy L image

The current image is fair use (a Canon promo shot). Fair use is not considered a good idea when it's easy to replace an image, and that image could be replaced by anyone with an Ixus i/SD10/Ixy L. If someone could please take a shot of their SD10 and put it on Wikimedia Commons, that would be most appreciated, thank you! - David Gerard 20:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

I just got an Ixus i in the post (a nice silver one), so I can take this pic myself, and I'll do what I can for test pics! - David Gerard 20:50, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Replaced! - David Gerard 11:15, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sample gallery

I've only posted almost all of these because I collect Ixuses (my wife lets me as long as I sell them afterwards ;-). Others who have really nice shots on Commons that are actually the camera JPEG are encouraged to! My shots are far from the finest on Earth ... e.g. that 430 image could do with a better example - David Gerard 14:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I have some photo's on commons made with my Ixus 430. They are resampled to a lower resolution and some photo's are cropped to cut off unwanted details arround the border. Most photo's with EXIF-info.

If you have any that are the original camera JPEG that, in your opinion, show what it can do, please upload the original camera JPEG and link it here! - David Gerard 11:33, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ixus 900 Ti

So! Who's going to put out €450 for a new 900 Ti so we can have a picture? - David Gerard 11:57, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ixus 850 IS

I own a Canon Digital Ixus 850 IS. If you would like me to take a photo of the camera to be used in this article, drop me a line at <jacob.seligmann[at]gmail.com>. Jacob Seligmann 21:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Known problems section

Obviously this section is going to have to be well referenced. The Ixus 400 problem needs a Canon link. The problem I can't find a really good reference for is the fragile screen on the Ixus 50, which some people have successfully gotten replaced under warranty but which Canon has not officially acknowledged. Then there's the E18 error ... - David Gerard 07:07, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image metadata

Does anyone know how to go about fixing the links in an image's metadata? If you look at the metadata for pictures taken by a Canon camera, the link points to Canon, not Canon. Just curious if anybody knows the right person to contact. Thanks. ♫ Bitch and Complain Sooner ♫ 05:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Probably not fixable - the link comes straight from the Exif data in the image; the MediaWiki software automatically makes this into a link. At least Canon Inc. is fairly high up in Canon :-) - David Gerard 19:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Canon sd630.jpg

Image:Canon sd630.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Ixus 70 pics

Just took these. They're bloody awful. Anyone with an Ixus 70 and a decent camera, please do put better ones in - David Gerard (talk) 13:57, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

And of course I found one on commons straight after ;-) - David Gerard (talk) 23:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] champs elysee pic

I was in france last month and I took the exact same pic on top of L'Arc de Triomphe with my Canon SD1000. Don't know if anyone care, but.... cool for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.67.154.81 (talk) 02:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Formatting grids, SD770 IS uses a different battery

A few revisions back someone re-gridded the entire IXUS section. Since I wasn't so tech-savvy I didn't attempt to update newer information because that might mess up the lines. Obviously someone went ahead and did it anyway, and now the chart looks awful. If you know how, please help.

Another thing, because I do not know how to add/modify the chart, I cannot correct an error on the battery listed for the new SD770 IS. According to Powershot.com, the battery used is a NB-6L--which would make it a new battery--and not a NB-5L. Again, once the chart is straightened out, it'll be easier to add this information. Thank you.

And no, I do not work for Canon :) Pablo 96.229.164.254 (talk) 04:58, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
