The Canada Portal was created via instructions in creating a box portal. Clicking the edit button on the main Canada Portal page does not help at all to add to the various sections as is usually the case with creation of wikipedia articles. However, clicking on the edit button does show all the pages transcluded into the main Portal page.

[edit] Be Bold Add the image or article directly

  • To keep the format of the portal consistent, use the template layouts, which are similar to filling out an infobox or talk page template.

[edit] Did You Know additions

  1. Portal:Canada/Selected Did you know/Layout - copy the template from this page.
  2. Portal:Canada/Selected Did you know - Click on the next successive red link from this page. Paste the above layout template. Fill in the required lines with the new Did you Know article and fact. Save page.
  3. Go to the main Portal:Canada page. Click on edit page. Update "max=" to new total for its {{Random portal component}} on the main page. The line which is edited is this one: {{Random portal component|max=8|header=Selected Did you know|subpage=Selected Did you know}} Make sure that "max=" is the same numerical value as the added biographical article of the red link added above.
  • In other words if you just made the article Portal:Canada/Selected Did you know/41, then the make sure "max=41" in the line quoted above, so that the portal includes all 41 articles to rotate through randomly onto the main portal page.

  1. Portal:Canada/Selected article/Layout- copy the template from this page.
  2. Portal:Canada/Selected article - Click on the next successive red link from this page. Paste the above layout template. Fill in the first paragraph from the selected notable, FA or GA or Top-importance article, add image. Save page.
  3. Go to the main Portal:Canada page. Click on edit page. Update "max=" to new total for its {{Random portal component}} on the main page. The line which is edited is this one: {{Random portal component|max=4|header=Selected article|subpage=Selected article}} Make sure that "max=" is the same numerical value as the added biographical article of the red link added above.
