"Can't Stand Losing You" is a song by rock band The Police, first released in 1978 as a single and on their album Outlandos d'Amour. The original single was banned by the BBC because of the controversial cover, featuring an individual (Stewart Copeland) who has hanged himself standing on a large ice cube, waiting for it to melt. (An alternate cover was released in some places.) As Sting described in a 2000 Revolver interview:

...We had [a] publicity campaign with posters about how the BBC banned Roxanne. The reason they had a problem with "Can't Stand Losing You" was because the photo on the cover of the single had Stewart standing on a block of ice with a noose around his neck, waiting for the ice to melt.

The instrumental track "Reggatta de Blanc" from the album of the same name originated from an improvisational stage jam played during live performances of "Can't Stand Losing You". This instrumental track went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1981.

The Police performed this song at the Giants Stadium, July 7th 2007, for the Live Earth concerts.

Two music videos exist for the song. One features the group playing the song on stage of what could be a soundcheck of a show with Sting wearing very goofy glasses. The second features the group performing the song in front of a red backdrop. This was filmed on the same day as the red backdropped version of "Roxanne."

British rock band Feeder have covered the song and played it live on a couple of occasions. It also appears on their B-sides album "Picture of Perfect Youth".

"Can't Stand Losing You" has appeared as downloadable content in the music video game Rock Band as in a 3-song pack along with The Police's other songs "Synchronicity II" and "Roxanne".
