Talk:Camel's Hump (Vermont)/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article is approaching B class but there are a number of issues to be dealt with first:

  • "perhaps the state's most recognized mountain" - a very subjective statement not backed by fact.
  • "one of the oldest mountains on earth" - Green Mountains currently makes no mention of its age. The reference assigned to the "550 million years" in the infobox is missing. This also conflicts with the 300 million years claim in the Appalachian Mountains.
  • The Geology section could do with a bit more details. For example, what rock types are found there?
  • a more recent photo for the infobox would be good although that would not hold up its upgrade to B class.
  • Why is the elevation 4080+? Why is an exact height not known?
  • The references need to be properly cited in the article.

After these issues are addressed, I would give it B class. After that a GA nomination would be in order.

The elevation is 4080+ because apparently it's not authoritatively known; the map just shows the 4080-ft contour, but no summit elevation. I don't know why not, since there's some kind of USC&GS marker on the summit.
