Campbelltown Stadium, formerly Orana Park and Campbelltown Sports Ground, is a rugby league stadium in Campbelltown, New South Wales, Australia. It is the full time home ground for the Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club and is one of three home grounds for the Wests Tigers Rugby League Football Club. The stadium has a nominal capacity of 20,000, with a recorded highest crowd figure of 21,527 for a game between Western Suburbs and St George in 1991.
[edit] History
Campbelltown Stadium has been used for top level rugby league since 1987 when the Western Suburbs Magpies made the move from their inner western base of Lidcombe. At that time the ground was known as Orana Park. The Magpies had made the move in a bid to provide a more assured future as their new home was based in a rapidly expanding area in the outer south-west of Sydney. A new leagues club was developed next to the ground.
[edit] Current use
The Stadium is still home to the Western Suburbs Magpies, and is used on an occasional basis by the Wests Tigers, with 3 annual games of their 12 or 13 home games in accordance with their stadium deals being played there.
