Camp Omega was originally a riding camp on Silver Lake Road in the Catskill township of Woodridge, New York. The camp was purchased in 1965 by the Steinman and Schwartz families of Brooklyn, NY. It was then converted to a children's summer camp. The capacity of the camp was approximately 300. It was primarily a Jewish camp that served Kosher-style meals and observed the Sabbath. Facilities included an Olympic-sized swimming pool, basketball court, two ballfields, a recreation hall, arts and crafts barn and a Victorian gabled main house with wrap around porch. The main house contained the dining room, offices, kitchen and pantry and quarters for the owners and senior staff.
There were separate boy and girl campuses. The age range of the campers was five to fifteen years old. Fifteen year old boys were waiters in the dining room. C.I.T's were sixteen, Junior Counselors were seventeen and Counselors started at eighteen.
The camp was operated continuously from 1965 until 1975, when it was sold to a Christian missionary camp called which still operates today on the grounds of Omega.
