Camp Hill (HM Prison)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Camp Hill was built in 1912 using prisoner labour from HMP Parkhurst and opened by Winston Churchill. It lies adjacent to HMP Albany and HMP Parkhurst on the outskirts of Newport, Isle of Wight and is a Category C Training prison. One notable escape attempt was inspired by the infamous Alcatraz ecape. Two prisoners attempted to dig through the wall with a spoon but officers noticed before the inmates could dig very far.
