[edit] Fair use for B movies (The exploitation boom)
This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (DCGeist) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low-resolution copy of a TV movie advertisement;
- it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell or promote the TV movie in any way;
- copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the artwork on another poster; and
- the image contributes significantly to readers' understanding of the article's subject because it illustrates (a) a significant and representative TV B movie from the classic period of the form and (b) the marketing of such TV movies during that historical period as discussed in the accompanying text
[edit] Licensing
This image is of a poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of posters
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
