Calao systems is a French company producing small Linux - based computers, roughly the size of the USB key.
Devices use Atmel or Nomadik processor (based on ARM architecture) and offer up till 1 Gb of RAM for the most advanced model (USB-S8815). The operating system is placed to the 128 Mb - 1 Gb non volatile memory. The MicroSD slot allows to extend this memory by up till 8 Gb, if needed.
Devices are powered via USB male connector which is used to plug them into the host computer. During the development, the dialog with the system is also performed using this USB connection (there are no serial ports). JTAG is also provided via USB.
All Calao USB keys have an additional wired LAN port and some also have additional USB sockets.
Calao devices use U-boot and run the 2.6 version of the Linux kernel. Evaluation and development kits are also proposed with free GNU toolchain and a ready to install Linux kernel with a pre-installed file system.
