Cajeput Tree

Cajeput tree is the common name used for certain members of the genus Melaleuca, native to Australia. Specifically it refers to M. leucadendra, M. linariifolia and M. quinquenervia. The cajeput tree is also the source of cajeput oil, an essential oil used in aromatherapy. It is a tall evergreen tree with thick pointed leaves and white flowers. The flexible trunk has a white spongy bark that flakes off easily. The tree, and especially the essential oil, is held in high regard throughout the East. The essential oil of the Cajeput tree has many aromatherapeutic and herbal uses.
